My family and I spent 3 days at the Tilted Toque. It was our first visit and we would definitely go back. The French River is beautiful with the exposed rocky Canadian Shield shoreline. Perfect for family canoeing or kayaking. Nice cabins with all amenities. A wilderness experience not to be forgotten. Hosts Terry and Ethan made sure we had everything we needed.

An awesome place to stay! The fishing around the lodge is excellent and the cabins are fully equipped and comfortable. Lots of wildlife to observe and fish to catch! The staff are very kind and make you feel at home. Would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to enjoy the mighty upper French river.

The host of our previous lodge retired & sold so our group was forced to find a new spot and we couldn’t be happier to have found the Tilted Toque! Only a short boat ride from the marina to rustic but clean cozy cabins over looking the beautiful French river. Even being brand new to the area we quickly found many “honey holes” and caught lots of fish. We’re already booked for next year and can’t wait to get back to the Toque! Ps 5 stars once you get that flag replaced Terry

Absolutely incredible experience at The Tilted Toque Wilderness Lodge! I stayed here on a fall fishing trip and can honestly say it’s one of the best fishing destinations in Ontario. The lodge is right on the Upper French River — only about 3.5 hours from Toronto — and the area is unreal for walleye, bass, pike, and musky. Terry and Ethan (the owners) are amazing hosts who go above and beyond to make sure you’re taken care of. The cabins are clean and comfortable, the food and hospitality are top-notch, and the scenery is unbeatable. We even got lucky enough to see the Northern Lights one night! If you’re looking for a Northern Ontario getaway — great fishing, great people, and peaceful surroundings — this is the place. Couldn’t recommend it more.

This review is long overdue. I took my son and his friend to the Toque last August and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience. If you have never spent time on the French River, it is a truly magical place. Terry and Ethan are incredible hosts and made sure that we had everything we needed. The Toque was everything we expected and more. Although known for the trophy Musky fishing, we caught eight different species in one day. Kayaking to the secret back lakes is simply spectacular. Thank you again Terry and Ethan and hope to make it there this summer!

This past weekend was our first time staying at The Tilted Toque, and wow—it blew us away! For the past 6–7 years, we’ve tried a different fishing resort along the French River every season, but this time we hit the jackpot. From the moment we arrived, everything exceeded our expectations. The cabins were spotless, cozy, and incredibly well-maintained. The fishing? Outstanding! What truly sets this place apart is Terry. Not only is he friendly and accommodating, but it’s clear he genuinely cares. He went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed and more. It felt less like a resort and more like staying with an old friend. We’ve finally found our spot—no more searching for new places each year. The Tilted Toque is it. Can’t wait to come back! Joe

We had an amazing time at the toque! Right from the start Terry was amazing, went above and beyond to get us settled in for the weekend, gave us some great fishing advice too, we will definitely re book with them for next year!!
